Job Description
Live and work in the beauty of Kentucky thoroughbred country. 100-bed community hospital in a comfortable community of 20,000 located 20 minutes from a major cultural center is recruiting for RN Director of Emergency Services department with 27,000 annual visits. The department consists of 13 beds plus a new five-bed Fast Track facility opened in spring of 2009. Director will have the support of a very capable, tenured ED Supervisor to assist in managing a staff of 43 full-time and PRN professionals. Position reports directly to dynamic, doctorate-degreed CNO.

This facility is in final discussions with a new partner which, when finalized, will accelerate their plans for a completely new hospital. This represents a ground floor opportunity for those joining the managerial staff to be heavily involved in the planning, design and construction of their section of the new facility.

Qualifications:
* BSN minimum, Master preferred
* Minimum of five years ED clinical experience
* Minimum of 3 years ED management experience
* Kentucky nurse license or eligible
* Current ACLS, BLS
* Experience in upgrading or design and construction of a new ED operation is a plus.

The ideal candidate would be motivated by, and be able to deliver, solutions to the following projects and objectives:
* Assessing and providing solutions for improving throughput.
* Recruitment and retention of highly motivated, committed, passionate team.
* Completing the elimination of agency nursing expense.
* Staff training program development and implementation.
* Developing favorable relationships with the ED physicians, especially the ER Medical Director.
* Establishing the vision, leadership and expectations for improving patient satisfaction, with staff and physicians (Press Ganey is measurement method).
* Establishing a new level of interactive, collaborative and highly visible management style with staff and physicians e.g. rounding.
* Be a major participant in the design, planning and construction of a new hospital emergency department.
